Casio module 5507: user manual and setup (EFV-100D)

The module number is engraved on the case back of the watch. It is a four-digit number, separate from the model name. If the case back says 5507, this guide applies to your watch. Casio uses the same module in several models, so the steps below are common to all of them. The manual advises you to keep the watch documentation for future reference. Your watch may differ slightly from the illustration in the original document.

Which watches use module 5507

Module 5507 is an analog quartz movement. The watch has hour, minute and second hands, as well as a date window. All settings are made with the crown only. There are no buttons, modes or digital display. Some models also have a rotating bezel for measuring elapsed time. At Classic, module 5507 is found in the following Casio Edifice models:

The crown and its positions

The crown has three positions. In the pushed-in position the watch runs normally and keeps time. Pulled out to the first click (Click 1), the crown is used to change the date. Pulled out to the second click (Click 2), it stops the second hand and allows you to set the time. Rotating the crown in the relevant position moves the date or the hands.

Screw-lock crown on water-resistant models

Some water-resistant models (100 or 200 meters) have a screw-lock crown. Before setting, rotate it towards you to unscrew it. Then pull it out carefully, without excessive force. While the crown is unscrewed, the watch loses its water resistance. After each setting, screw the crown back in fully.

How to set the time and date

The steps for setting the time are as follows:

1. Wait for the second hand to reach the 12 o'clock position.
2. Pull the crown out to the second click (Click 2). The second hand stops.
3. Rotate the crown to set the hour and minutes.
4. Take care to set AM or PM correctly.
5. Move the minute hand four or five minutes past the desired time. Then move it back to the exact minute.
6. Push the crown back in at a time signal. The second hand starts again.

The steps for setting the date are as follows:

1. Pull the crown out to the first click (Click 1).
2. Rotate the crown towards you until the required date appears in the window.
3. Push the crown back into the pushed-in position.

The manual gives two important notes about the date. The movement works with a 31-day month. After a month with 30 or fewer days, change the date manually to the first. Do not change the date between 9:00 PM and 1:00 AM. If you change it in this interval, it may not change correctly at midnight.

Rotating bezel

If your model has a rotating bezel, it is used to measure elapsed time. Rotate the bezel so that the ▼ mark aligns with the minute hand. From that moment, read the elapsed minutes by the position of the minute hand relative to the mark.

Accuracy and battery

Module 5507 uses an SR927SW type battery. According to the manual, the battery life is about 3 years. Accuracy at normal temperature is ±20 seconds per month. Casio notes that specifications are subject to change without notice.

Tips from the manual in brief

• Keep the watch documentation for future reference.
• Check that you have set AM or PM correctly.
• Move the minute hand a few minutes ahead and return to the exact minute.
• Push the crown in at a time signal.
• Do not change the date between 9:00 PM and 1:00 AM.
• After a shorter month, correct the date manually.
• With a screw-lock crown, screw it in fully after each setting.
