Casio module 5658: user manual and setup (ECB-S10D, ECB-30DC)

The module number is printed on the back cover of the watch, among the other markings. If it says 5658, this guide applies to your watch. Module 5658 is used in Casio Edifice watches that connect to a phone via the EDIFICE Connected app. The official Casio manual for this module is numbered MA2107-EA and dates from 2021.

Which watches use module 5658

According to the manual, this is a combination watch with analog hands and a digital display. The hands can be moved aside to read the display beneath them. The watch has a crown and buttons, is rechargeable and supports a phone connection. In the Classic store this module is found in the following models:

Buttons and modes

In the manual the buttons are marked with letters. The Stopwatch and Countdown Timer descriptions use buttons A and D. Do not operate the crown or buttons while the watch is wet or under water. The main mode is the Timekeeping Mode. In it, the display content can be cycled. From there you move to the other modes: World Time, Alarm, Stopwatch and Countdown Timer. The exact button sequence for changing modes is in the manual section "Navigating Between Modes".

How to set the time and date

The manual describes two ways to set the time: via the EDIFICE Connected app and manually from the watch buttons.

1. Connect the watch to your phone via EDIFICE Connected. When connected, the time is adjusted automatically (Auto Time Adjustment).
2. Select a Home City and its daylight saving time setting. When travelling, change the Home City as described in the section "Moving to Another Time Zone".
3. If you do not have a phone at hand, set the time manually as described in the section "Using Watch Operations to Adjust the Time" in the PDF.
4. In the other settings, choose the date format and the day-of-week language.
5. If the hands do not match the digital time, perform Hand Alignment. This is done from the app or from the watch itself.

World Time

The watch shows the time for a second city from the city table in the manual. The World Time city is set from the EDIFICE Connected app or from the watch. Home Time and World Time can be swapped with a single operation. Daylight saving time for the cities is listed in a separate table (Summer Time Table).

Digital alarm and Hourly Time Signal

The alarm is set from the EDIFICE Connected app or from the watch. There is also an Hourly Time Signal, which can be turned on separately. The manual describes how to stop a sounding alarm or Hourly Time Signal. There is an Alarm Countdown Indication showing the time remaining until the alarm.

Stopwatch

The Stopwatch measures elapsed time, split times and lap times. Button D starts and stops the measurement. Button A records a lap time. During the first hour, lap time is shown to 1/100 of a second. After the first hour it is shown in seconds, and the display switches to hours and minutes. After a lap is recorded, the display shows the lap number for about eight seconds. Recorded Stopwatch data can also be viewed in the app.

Countdown Timer

The timer start time can be set in one-second steps up to 60 minutes. It can also be set from the EDIFICE Connected app.

1. Enter Timer Mode.
2. If a countdown is running, first reset the timer to its start time.
3. Hold button A for at least two seconds until the minute digits start to flash. This is the setting mode.
4. Set the minutes and seconds.
5. Button D starts the countdown. The same button pauses and resumes the countdown.

The manual also describes an indication of the timer's remaining time. The sound at the start of the countdown can be turned off in the settings.

Phone connection

The watch connects to a phone via the EDIFICE Connected app. The list of supported phones is at the end of the manual. When connected, the time is adjusted automatically. The Phone Finder function helps you find your phone. The TIME & PLACE function records your current location. The manual describes connecting, disconnecting and Unpairing. If you change your phone, follow the section "If you purchase another phone". Also read the Mobile Link warnings, including those on use in medical facilities and on aircraft.

Charging and battery

The watch is rechargeable, and the charge level can be checked from the watch or from the app. There is a Power Saving function, which is set separately. The manual includes a section on viewing the dial in the dark. Battery replacement requires special tools and is done at an authorized Casio service center. When replacing the battery, the technician also checks the water resistance.

Other settings

A button operation tone can be turned on in the settings. The date format and the day-of-week language can be changed as you prefer. All settings can be returned to their initial values with a single operation (Resetting Watch Settings). At the end of the manual there is a Troubleshooting section and technical specifications.

Water resistance and care

The water resistance level is marked on the dial or on the back cover. At 10 BAR the manual allows hand washing, rain, swimming, windsurfing and diving without a tank. The watch is not for scuba diving. Do not use the crown or buttons under water. After exposure to sea water, rinse the watch with clean water. The gaskets should be replaced periodically, about once every two or three years. Keep the watch away from high and low temperatures, strong impacts and chemicals. The band should not be too tight, a finger should fit between the band and your wrist.
