Module 5684 is a combined analog-digital module. The watch has hands and a digital display, and the hands can be moved aside to read the display. The module is rechargeable, has a charge level check and connects to a phone through the CASIO WATCHES app. At Classic, the following model uses this module:

Buttons and modes

The manual labels the buttons with letters. The Stopwatch description uses buttons (A) and (D). The water resistance instructions mention both the crown and the buttons. The watch has separate modes, and you switch between them as described in the manual. The main one is Timekeeping Mode, in which the display content can be changed. There are also Timer Mode, Stopwatch, World Time, Alarm and Reminders.

How to set the time and date

The manual describes two ways to adjust the time: automatically through the phone and manually from the watch itself.

  1. Check that the case back reads 5684 to make sure this is the correct guide.
  2. For automatic adjustment, install the CASIO WATCHES app on a supported phone and pair the watch. The section "Auto Time Adjustment" describes how the phone corrects the time.
  3. Set the Home City and the Summer Time setting. These two settings determine the displayed time.
  4. For manual adjustment, follow the section "Using Watch Operations to Adjust the Time" in the PDF document. It gives the exact button sequence.
  5. If needed, change the Date Display Format and the Day of the Week Language in the general settings.
  6. If the hands do not match the digital time, use the hand alignment function described below.

Phone connection (Mobile Link)

The watch connects to a phone through the CASIO WATCHES app. The manual describes preparation, connecting, disconnecting and unpairing. There is a separate section for the case when you buy a new phone. From the app you can set the time, reminders, World Time, alarm, timer and hand alignment. The Phone Finder function helps you locate your phone. The TIME & PLACE function records your current location.

World Time

Module 5684 shows the time in a second time zone. The World Time city is set from the watch or from the CASIO WATCHES app. The manual describes how to check World Time and how to swap Home Time and World Time. At the end of the document there is a city table and a Summer Time table. A separate section explains what to do when moving to another time zone.

Alarm and time signal

The watch has a digital alarm. It is set from the watch itself or through the app. An Hourly Time Signal can also be turned on, which marks every full hour. The manual also describes how to turn off the alarm or the Hourly Time Signal.

Stopwatch

The Stopwatch measures elapsed time, split times and lap times.

  • Button (D) starts and stops the measurement.
  • Button (A) records a split time or a lap during the measurement.
  • After stopping, button (A) resets the Stopwatch.

During the first hour, the time is shown in hundredths of a second, with minutes and seconds on the display. After the first hour, the reading is in whole seconds and the display shows hours and minutes. The same applies to lap times.

Countdown Timer

The Countdown Timer has its own Timer Mode. The start time is set in one-second steps. The setting can also be made from the CASIO WATCHES app. The manual describes setting the start time and using the timer separately.

Reminders

The module supports Reminders. They are created through the CASIO WATCHES app. The details of each reminder can be checked from the watch.

Hand alignment

After a strong impact or exposure to magnetism, the hands may not match the digital time. The manual describes how to check and correct their position. Alignment can be done from the watch or through the CASIO WATCHES app.

Charging, battery and illumination

The watch has a built-in rechargeable battery. The charge level can be checked from the watch itself. There is a Power Saving function whose settings are chosen by the user. For reading in the dark, the manual has a section "Viewing the Face in the Dark". The button operation tone can be turned on and off. There is also a function for restoring the factory settings.

Water resistance and care

The manual contains a water resistance table based on the marking on the case back. Without a marking, the watch is not protected from water and sweat. Do not press the buttons or turn the crown under water. After seawater, rinse the watch with clean water. The gaskets are replaced periodically, about once every two to three years. Keep the watch away from thinners, gasoline, cosmetics and high temperatures. Do not wear the band too tight. Battery replacement is done at an authorized Casio service center.
