Casio module 3294: user manual and setup (B640WC, B640WD, LW-204)

The module number is engraved on the case back of every Casio. It is separate from the model number and is usually four digits inside a small rectangle. If the case back says 3294, the settings described below apply to your watch.

Which watches use module 3294

Module 3294 is digital. The time, date and day of the week are shown as digits on the display. According to the manual, there are four modes: Timekeeping Mode, Alarm Mode, Countdown Timer Mode and Stopwatch Mode. The watch has illumination, an alarm and an hourly time signal. It is operated with four buttons marked with the letters A, B, C and D. This module is found in the following Casio Collection models:

Buttons and modes

Button C cycles through the modes: Timekeeping, Alarm, Countdown Timer, Stopwatch and back to Timekeeping. After you finish an operation in any mode, pressing C returns to the Timekeeping Mode. Button A opens and closes the setting screen. Button D changes values and starts or stops the countdown. Button B illuminates the display for about two seconds in any mode. During setting, B also switches between the 12-hour and 24-hour format.

How to set the time and date

1. In the Timekeeping Mode, press A. The seconds start to flash, which means you are in the setting screen.
2. Use button C to move the flashing in this order: seconds, hour, minutes, year, month, day.
3. When the value you want is flashing, press D. For the seconds, D resets them to 00. For the hour, minutes, year, month and day, D increases the value.
4. If you reset the seconds while they are between 30 and 59, the minutes increase by one. Between 00 and 29 the minutes do not change.
5. While any value is flashing, press B to switch between the 12-hour and 24-hour format.
6. Press A to exit the setting screen.

The day of the week is shown automatically according to the set date. The year can be set in the range from 2000 to 2099. The built-in full automatic calendar accounts for the different month lengths and leap years. Once you set the date, you do not need to change it except after replacing the battery. In the 12-hour format, the PM indicator is shown from noon to 11:59 PM. In the 24-hour format, the time runs from 0:00 to 23:59 with the 24H indicator. The selected format applies to all modes.

Illumination

The illumination uses an LED and a light guide panel that light up the whole display. Pressing B in any mode illuminates the display for about two seconds. This works whether the illumination function is turned on or off.

When the illumination function is turned on, the display flashes while the alarm, the hourly time signal or the countdown timer sounds. To turn it on or off, hold down D for about two seconds in the Timekeeping Mode. An indicator appears on the display and stays in all modes until you turn it off. This setting does not affect the sound signals.

The illumination is hard to see in direct sunlight. The illumination turns off automatically when an alarm sounds. Frequent use of the illumination shortens battery life.

Alarm and hourly time signal

The alarm lets you set the hour, minutes, month and day. When it is turned on, it sounds for 20 seconds at the set time. When the hourly time signal is turned on, the watch beeps every hour on the hour. The alarm and the hourly time signal sound in all modes.

Depending on the values you set, there are four types of alarm:

• Daily alarm: you set only the hour and minutes, and the alarm sounds every day.
• Date alarm: you set the month, day, hour and minutes for a one-time alarm on a specific date.
• 1-month alarm: you set the month, hour and minutes, and the alarm sounds every day during that month.
• Monthly alarm: you set the day, hour and minutes, and the alarm sounds every month on that day.

Setting the alarm:

1. In the Alarm Mode, press A. The hour of the alarm starts to flash and the alarm is turned on automatically.
2. Use C to move the flashing in the order hour, minutes, month, day.
3. While the value is flashing, press D to increase it.
4. For an alarm without a month, press D at the month until the special skip mark appears instead of a number.
5. For an alarm without a day, press D at the day until the same mark appears after the last day of the month.
6. In the 12-hour format, check whether the hour is morning or afternoon by the PM indicator.
7. Press A to exit the setting screen.

To stop an alarm that is sounding, press any button. In the Alarm Mode, button D changes the status in this order: both off, alarm only, both on, hourly time signal only. The indicators for the alarm and the hourly time signal are visible in all modes.

Countdown Timer

The timer can be set from 1 second to 24 hours. When the countdown reaches zero, a signal sounds for 10 seconds or until you press a button. There is also an auto-repeat function that restarts the countdown from the start time.

1. In the Countdown Timer Mode, press A. The hours of the start time start to flash.
2. Use C to move the flashing in the order hours, minutes, seconds.
3. While the value is flashing, press D to increase it. For 24 hours, set 0:00'00.
4. Press A to exit the setting screen.

In the Countdown Timer Mode, press D to start the countdown. Press D again to pause it, and once more to resume. With auto-repeat turned off, the signal sounds for 10 seconds or until you press a button. The timer then returns to the start time. To turn auto-repeat on or off, press A in the Countdown Timer Mode and then B. When auto-repeat is turned on, AUTO is shown on the display.

Stopwatch
