Casio module 3472: user manual and setup (A700WEM, A700WEMG)

The module number is engraved on the case back of the watch, in a small rectangle among the other markings. If it says 3472, the settings below apply to your watch. The description follows the official Casio manual for modules 3472/3479.

Which watches use module 3472

Module 3472 is digital. The display shows the hour, minutes, seconds, date and day of the week. The watch has a daily alarm, an hourly time signal, a stopwatch and LED illumination. At Classic the module is found in the following models:

Buttons and modes

The manual labels the buttons with the letters A, B and C. The watch has four modes: Timekeeping Mode, Alarm Mode, Stopwatch Mode and Time Setting Mode.

• B changes the modes in the order listed. After an operation in any mode, pressing B returns to Timekeeping Mode.
• A turns on the display illumination in every mode. During setting, it selects which digits flash.
• C changes the selected values during setting and operates the stopwatch.

If you do not press a button for one or two minutes in Alarm Mode or Time Setting Mode, the watch returns to Timekeeping Mode on its own.

How to set the time and date

1. Press B until you enter Time Setting Mode. The seconds start to flash.
2. Use A to select what to change. The order is: seconds, hour, minutes, day of the week, day, month.
3. While the seconds are flashing, press C to reset them. If the seconds are between 30 and 59, they reset and the minutes increase by one. If they are between 00 and 29, the minutes do not change.
4. For all other values, C increases the number. For the day of the week, C moves to the next day. Holding C changes the value quickly.
5. Finally, press B to return to Timekeeping Mode.

The watch does not account for leap years. The calendar has 28 days for February. On 29 February the date must be set manually. If you do not press a button for one or two minutes while something is flashing, the setting stops and the watch returns to Timekeeping Mode.

12-hour or 24-hour format

In Timekeeping Mode, press C to switch between 12-hour and 24-hour format. In 12-hour format, the PM indicator is shown from 12:00 noon to 23:59. From midnight to 11:59 in the morning there is no indicator. In 24-hour format, the hours run from 0:00 to 23:59 and the display shows a 24H indicator. The days of the week are shown as abbreviations: SU (Sunday), MO, TU, WE, TH, FR, SA (Saturday).

Alarm and hourly time signal

The daily alarm sounds for 20 seconds every day at the set time. The hourly time signal makes a short sound every hour on the hour. All operations are performed in Alarm Mode, which you enter with B.

1. In Alarm Mode, press A. The hours start to flash. This automatically turns the alarm on.
2. Use A to move from the hours to the minutes. The next press returns to normal Alarm Mode, with no flashing digits.
3. Use C to increase the selected digits. Holding C changes the number quickly.
4. After you set the time, use A to return to Alarm Mode.

The alarm format matches the selected time format. In 12-hour format, check whether you are setting a morning or afternoon (PM) time.

The alarm is stopped by pressing any button. In Alarm Mode, pressing C changes the status in the following order: both on, both off, daily alarm only, hourly time signal only. To test the sound, hold C in Alarm Mode.

Stopwatch

The stopwatch measures elapsed time, split time and two finish times. The range is 59 minutes and 59.99 seconds, in 1/100-second units. After reaching the limit, the measurement continues from zero until you stop it. The measurement continues internally even if you change the mode. If you leave the mode while a split time is shown, it will not be shown when you return.

• Elapsed time: C starts, C stops, C resumes, C stops, A resets.
• Split time: C starts, A shows the split time (SPL), A releases it, C stops, A resets.
• Two finishes: C starts, A at the first finish shows that runner's time, C stops at the second finish, A shows the second runner's time, A resets.

Illumination

The illumination is an LED. In every mode, press A to light up the display.

Battery and accuracy

The watch runs on one CR1616 lithium battery. Its life is about 3 years with 1 second of illumination and 20 seconds of alarm per day. Accuracy at normal temperature is ±30 seconds per month.
