Casio module 4369: user manual and setup (EF-527D)

The module number is printed on the case back of the watch, among the other markings. It shows which movement and which functions the watch has, regardless of the colour and finish of the model. If the back says 4369, the steps below apply to your watch.

Which watches use module 4369

Module 4369 is an analog chronograph. The current time is shown with hour, minute and second hands, and the date is in a separate window. The stopwatch has its own hands for hours, minutes, seconds and 1/20 second. Settings are made with the crown, and the stopwatch is operated with two buttons, A and B. At Classic this module is found in the following Edifice models:

Buttons and crown positions

The manual describes two buttons and a crown with three positions.

• Button A – start, stop and resume the stopwatch.
• Button B – reset the stopwatch and return to the current time display.
• Crown in normal position – the watch runs and shows the time.
• Crown at the first click – date setting.
• Crown at the second click – time setting.

Some water-resistant models have a screw-lock crown. On these, first unscrew the crown in the indicated direction before pulling it out. Do not pull hard. While the crown is unscrewed, the watch is not water resistant. After each setting, screw it back in fully.

How to set the time and date

Setting the time:

1. Pull the crown out to the second click. The second hand moves to 12 o'clock and stops there.
2. Rotate the crown to move the hands clockwise.
3. Move the minute hand four or five minutes past the desired time. Then move it back to the exact position.
4. Check whether you are setting a morning or afternoon time, that is, AM or PM.
5. Push the crown back in to the normal position. The watch starts running again.

Setting the date:

1. Pull the crown out to the first click.
2. Rotate the crown towards you until the required date appears.
3. Push the crown back in to the normal position.

Do not change the date while the current time is between 9:00 PM and 1:00 AM. The manual explicitly warns about this interval.

Stopwatch

The stopwatch measures elapsed time up to 11 hours, 59 minutes and 59.95 seconds. It uses separate hands for hours, minutes, seconds and 1/20 second. The 1/20 second hand rotates and shows the count only during the first 30 seconds.

1. Press A to start the stopwatch.
2. Press A to stop it. Pressing A again resumes the measurement.
3. Read the elapsed time from the stopwatch hands. For example, 2 minutes on the minute hand, 18 seconds on the second hand and 80 on the 1/20 second hand mean 2 minutes and 18.80 seconds.
4. Press B to reset the stopwatch. The watch returns to the current time mode.

After a reset, the 1/20 second hand can take over the role of the second hand for the current time. To do this, press B once more.

Do not operate the stopwatch while the crown is pulled out to the first or second click. When pressing a button, you may accidentally rotate the crown and change the time or date.

Aligning the stopwatch hands

After a reset, the stopwatch second hand and the 1/20 second hand should point to 12 o'clock. If either of them is out of position, the position is corrected as follows.

1. Press B to reset the stopwatch and check where the two hands point.
2. Pull the crown out to the second click.
3. Press A repeatedly to move the stopwatch second hand to 12 o'clock.
4. Press B.
5. If the 1/20 second hand is aligned, go to the next step. If it is also out of position, press B repeatedly to move it.
6. Push the crown back in to the normal position.

Pulling out the crown also stops the second hand of the current time. After the alignment, set the time again using the steps described above.

Elapsed time bezel

On models with a rotating elapsed time bezel, rotate the bezel so that its marker lines up with the minute hand. After some time, read the bezel graduation that the minute hand points to. This is the elapsed time. The bezel scale has graduations at 10, 20, 30, 40 and 50 minutes.
