Casio module 5146: user manual and setup (GA-110, GA-110CD, GM-S2110)

The module number is printed on the case back of the watch, among the other markings. If it says 5146 there, this guide applies to your watch. The official Casio manual is shared by modules 5146 and 5425.

Which watches have module 5146

Module 5146 is a combination module: it has analog hands and a digital display. The analog time is synchronized with the digital time. When you change the digital time, the hands adjust automatically. The watch also has a speed hand that works with the stopwatch. At Classic this module is found in the following models:

Buttons and modes

In the manual the buttons are marked with letters according to the illustration of the specific model. The watch has five modes: Timekeeping, Stopwatch, Countdown Timer, World Time and Alarm. You change modes by pressing the mode button repeatedly. In every mode, except during setting, the illumination button lights up the display. In the Timekeeping Mode one button switches the digital display between the date and the Home City time.

How to set the time and date

1. In the Timekeeping Mode hold down the setting button for about three seconds. The current city code starts flashing in the upper digital display.
2. Select your Home City code with the east and west buttons. Do this before all other settings. The full list of city codes is in the table at the end of the manual.
3. Use the mode button to move through the settings in this order: city code, daylight saving time, seconds, hour, minutes, year, month, day, 12/24-hour format, illumination duration.
4. When the desired value is flashing, change it with the plus and minus buttons. The seconds reset to 00 with a single press.
5. Daylight saving time (DST) is turned on and off with a single press. The factory setting is off. When DST is on, an indicator appears on the display.
6. Select the 12-hour (12H) or 24-hour (24H) format. The format applies in all modes. With the 12-hour format the P indicator is shown from noon until 23:59.
7. The illumination duration switches between 1.5 seconds (LT1) and three seconds (LT3).
8. Press the setting button to exit. The day of the week is shown automatically according to the date.

Daylight saving time moves the time one hour ahead of standard time. Not all countries and regions use it. If the hands do not match the digital time, use the procedure for correcting their home positions.

Stopwatch

The Stopwatch measures elapsed time, lap time and split time. The display range is 99 hours, 59 minutes and 59.999 seconds. When the limit is reached, measurement starts again from zero. The Stopwatch keeps running after you exit the mode. The segments in the upper part of the display then show the seconds of the current time. Each segment is one second. Before any button operation make sure the speed hand is not moving.

If you set a distance, the watch calculates and shows a speed. The value can be in kilometers, miles or another unit of your choice. With a distance of 0.0 no speed is calculated. For laps you set the length of one lap or the total distance. For split times you set only the total distance. For this reason the displayed speed does not reflect the real split pace. The distance is set while the Stopwatch is stopped and reset. Resetting is done with the setting button. Hold the same button for about three seconds until the value starts flashing in the lower display. The speed hand shows values up to 100, and the segments in the upper display count in units of 100.

Countdown Timer

The watch has a Countdown Timer with an adjustable start time. There is also an auto-repeat function. The detailed steps are on pages E-25 to E-28 of the manual.

World Time

This mode shows the current time in another time zone by city code. For the selected city you can switch between standard time and daylight saving time. The Home City and the World Time city can be swapped.

Alarms and hourly time signal

In the Alarm Mode you set the alarm time. Each alarm is turned on and off separately. There is also an hourly time signal, which is turned on and off as well.

Illumination

The display is lit manually with the illumination button in every mode except during setting. The duration is 1.5 or three seconds and is set in the Timekeeping Mode. There is also an auto light, which can be turned on and off as you choose. To save the battery, the auto light turns itself off about six hours after being turned on. If needed, turn it on again in the same way.

Hand position correction

If the hands do not show the same time as the digital display, their home positions are corrected. The procedure includes checking the positions of the hour and minute hands. It is described in the Hand Home Position Correction section on page E-42.
