Casio module 5513: user manual and setup (GST-B100, GST-B100D)

The module number is engraved on the case back of every Casio. It is usually inside a small rectangle next to the other markings. If it says 5513, this manual applies to your watch.

Which watches use module 5513

Module 5513 is an analog solar module with a Bluetooth connection to a phone (Mobile Link). The time is shown by the main hour and minute hands. The small hands on the dial show dual time, alarm, stopwatch or timer, depending on the mode. There is a mode hand, a day-of-the-week indicator and a battery level indicator. At Classic the module is found in the following G-Shock models:

Buttons, hands and modes

The watch has four buttons (A, B, C and D) and a screw-lock crown. The manual describes four modes: Timekeeping, Alarm (ALM), Stopwatch (STW) and Countdown Timer (TMR). The mode hand points to the current mode or to the day of the week.

• A – press to change the mode. Hold for about two seconds to return to Timekeeping Mode.
• B – hold for about three seconds to swap the current location time with the dual time.
• C – hold for about two seconds to connect to the phone. To disconnect, press any other button.
• D – in Timekeeping Mode shows the battery level. Hold for about 1.5 seconds for the Phone Finder function.

The second hand also has an information role. When setting the time it points to A for morning and P for afternoon. When connected to a phone it points to C, and while waiting for a connection it points to R. In Alarm Mode it points to ON or OFF according to the alarm status. The watch cannot connect to a phone while the stopwatch or the timer is running.

How to use the crown

The crown is a screw-lock crown. Before use, unscrew it by turning it towards you, that is, to the left. Then pull it out to the first or second click and rotate it. Do not pull with force.

Rotating quickly and repeatedly in one direction moves the hands at high speed. Another quick rotation in the same direction increases the speed further. To stop, rotate in the opposite direction or press any button. If you do nothing for about two minutes after pulling the crown out, the crown is deactivated. Then push it back in and pull it out again.

After setting, push the crown in and screw it in by turning it away from you. This preserves the water resistance and the shock protection. Do not push too hard.

How to set the time and date

1. Hold A for about two seconds to enter Timekeeping Mode.
2. Unscrew the crown to the left and pull it out to the first or second click. The exact position for the time and for the date is in the Setting the Time/Date section of the PDF manual.
3. Rotate the crown to move the hands. Watch the second hand: A means morning, P means afternoon.
4. For a large correction use the high-speed rotation. Stop it by rotating in the opposite direction or by pressing a button.
5. Push the crown back in and screw it in by turning it away from you.

When the day changes, the mode hand moves as well. After midnight the day indicator changes with a delay of 15 to 30 seconds. The indicator does not change while a stopwatch measurement is running. With a connected phone, the manual also provides automatic time adjustment (Auto Time Adjustment).

Dual Time

In Timekeeping Mode the main hands show the time in the current location (Home City). The small hour and minute hands on the dial show the dual time. Its 24-hour hand points to A for morning hours and P for afternoon hours. Hold B for about three seconds to swap the two times. World Time settings and changing the Home City are done through the phone app.

Stopwatch

Enter Stopwatch Mode with button A. The mode hand points to STW. The main hands continue to show the current time. The other hands show the measured time: seconds, minutes and hours. The 24-hour hand points to A for hours 0 to 11 and P for hours 12 to 23. According to the diagram in the manual, one button is Start/Stop and the other is Split/Reset for split time and resetting. The battery level indicator moves together with the stopwatch minutes.

Countdown Timer

In Countdown Timer Mode the mode hand points to TMR. The main hands show the current time. The second hand and the small hands show the remaining time: seconds, minutes and hours. The 24-hour hand points to A for hours 0 to 11 and P for hours 12 to 23. The diagram shows a Start/Stop button and a Reset button. The timer time can also be set through the phone.

Alarm

In Alarm Mode the mode hand points to ALM. The small hands on the dial show the set alarm time. Its 24-hour hand points to A or P. The second hand shows ON when the alarm is on and OFF when it is off. The alarm is turned on and off with a button in this mode. It can also be set through the phone app.

Bluetooth and phone connection (Mobile Link)

Preparing to work with a phone takes three steps: installing the app, setting up Bluetooth and pairing the watch with the phone. To connect, hold C for about two seconds. When a connection is established the second hand points to C, while waiting it points to R. You disconnect by pressing another button.

The time is adjusted automatically through the phone. World Time, the timer, the alarm and hand alignment are also set from there. Phone Finder is started by holding D for about 1.5 seconds. The manual also contains guidance for use in medical facilities and on aircraft. Removing the pairing when changing phones is described as well.

Solar charging and battery level

The watch runs on a rechargeable battery that is charged by a solar panel in the dial. When you are not wearing it, leave it in a bright place. When wearing it, make sure your sleeve does not cover the dial. Even partial covering reduces charging.

In strong light the watch can become hot. Avoid charging on a car dashboard, next to an incandescent bulb or for a long time in direct sunlight.

To check the charge, hold A for about two seconds for Timekeeping Mode, then press D. The indicator shows low, medium or high charge. At low charge the functions are switched off gradually. Left in the dark for about an hour between 22:00 and 6:00, the watch enters power saving mode.

Hand alignment
