Casio module 5689: user manual and setup (GA-B2100, GA-B2100C)

The module number is printed on the case back of the watch. It usually sits in a small rectangular frame next to the other markings. If it says 5689 there, the steps below apply to your watch. All steps follow the official Casio manual for module 5689.

Which watches use module 5689

Module 5689 is a combination G-Shock module with hands and a digital display. The hands can be moved aside so the display under them can be read. The module connects to a phone through the CASIO WATCHES app. The watch has a charging function and a charge level check. At Classic this module is found in the following models:

• GA-B2100-3AER – Casio G-Shock GA-B2100-3AER

Buttons and modes

In the manual the buttons are marked with letters. In the stopwatch, button D starts and stops the measurement. Button A records a split time and a lap, and then resets the stopwatch. The manual describes Timekeeping Mode, World Time, Alarm, Stopwatch, Timer and Reminder. Switching between modes is described in the section Navigating Between Modes. In Timekeeping Mode the content of the digital display can be changed.

How to set the time and date

1. The easiest way is automatic setting through the phone. Install the CASIO WATCHES app and connect the watch as described in Connecting with a Phone.
2. When connected, the watch receives the exact time from the phone. This function is called Auto Time Adjustment.
3. Without a phone, the time is set with the buttons on the watch. The exact sequence is in the section Using Watch Operations to Adjust the Time in the PDF file.
4. Check the Home City and the summer time setting. The change is described in Changing the Home City Summer Time Setting.
5. The date format is changed in the section Changing the Date Display Format.
6. The day of the week language is selected in Specifying the Day of the Week Language.
7. If the hands do not match the digital display, perform hand alignment. It is done from the watch or through the CASIO WATCHES app.

Connecting with a phone

The manual has a section on supported phones and preparation for connection. After pairing, the watch adjusts the time automatically. World Time, the alarm, the timer and reminders are configured through the app. The Phone Finder function helps you find your phone. The TIME & PLACE function records your current location. Disconnecting, unpairing and changing the phone are also described.

World Time

The World Time cities are set through the CASIO WATCHES app. On the watch you can check the time in the selected city. Home Time and World Time can be swapped. At the end of the manual there is a city table and a summer time table. There is also a section on moving to another time zone.

Alarm and hourly signal

The watch has a digital alarm. It is set from the watch or through the app. A signal at every full hour can be turned on separately. The manual also describes how to turn off the alarm and the hourly signal.

Stopwatch

The Stopwatch measures elapsed time, split times and laps. Button D starts and stops the measurement. Button A records a split time or a lap. When the Stopwatch is stopped, button A resets it. During the first hour the time is shown with 1/100 second accuracy. After the first hour it is shown in seconds, and the display shows hours and minutes.

Timer

First enter Timer Mode. Then set the countdown start time. The start time can also be set through the CASIO WATCHES app. Then start the countdown as described in Using the Timer.

Reminder

The module supports reminders. They are created through the CASIO WATCHES app. The details of each reminder can be checked on the watch.

Charging and charge level

The manual has a section on charging the watch. The charge level can be checked on the watch. There is also a power saving function, whose settings are configured separately. Battery replacement requires special tools. Order it from the retailer or from an authorized Casio service center.

Illumination

The face can be viewed in the dark. The way to turn it on is described in the section Viewing the Face in the Dark.

Other settings

The button operation tone can be turned on and off. The watch settings can be returned to their initial values. For problems, the manual has a Troubleshooting section and a specifications section.

Water resistance and care

Do not press the buttons while the watch is wet or under water. The watch is not for scuba diving. After sea water, rinse it with clean water. The gaskets are replaced every two or three years. Do not leave the watch on a car dashboard or near heating appliances. Keep it away from thinners, gasoline, cosmetics and cleaning agents. Do not tighten the strap too much. A finger should fit between the strap and the wrist.
