The module number is printed on the back cover of the watch. It is separate from the model number and is usually four digits. If the cover says 5730, this guide applies to your watch. The document was issued by Casio in 2023 under number MA2312-EA.

Casio GMA-P2100-4AER

Module 5730 is a combination module: it has analog hands and a digital display. The hands are driven by a motor with magnetic force. When needed, the hands move aside so the digital display can be seen. At Classic, the module is found in the G-Shock GMA-P2100 and GM-S2110 series:

Modes of module 5730

The manual describes Timekeeping Mode, World Time, Alarm Mode, Stopwatch and Countdown Timer. Switching between modes is described in the section "Navigating Between Modes". In Timekeeping Mode, the content of the digital display cycles through its options. If the hands cover the display, they can be moved aside. The watch also has an illumination function for reading the dial in the dark.

How to set the time and date

  1. Open the section "Time Adjustment – Adjusting the Current Time Setting" in the manual.
  2. Follow the steps described there to enter the current time.
  3. Compare the position of the hands with the time on the digital display.
  4. If they do not match, use "Hand Alignment Adjustment" from the section "User Maintenance".

Do not press the buttons while the watch is wet or under water. The World Time city is set separately, in World Time Mode.

World Time

This mode shows the time in another city. The city is chosen from a list given in the "City Table" at the end of the manual. Checking the world time and changing the city are described in the section "World Time".

Alarm and hourly time signal

In Alarm Mode, you set an alarm time. Separately, an hourly time signal can be turned on, which marks every full hour. Turning off the alarm and the hourly time signal is described in the same section.

Stopwatch

The Stopwatch measures elapsed time. The manual also describes split time, without stopping the measurement. There is also a method for recording the first and second place finishers.

Countdown Timer

The Countdown Timer counts down from a set start time. First the start time is set, then the countdown is started. The steps are in the section "Timer".

Button operation tone

The sound when a button is pressed can be turned on and off. The setting is in the section "Other Settings – Enabling the Button Operation Tone".

Water resistance

Check the marking on the back cover or on the dial. If there is no WATER RESIST marking, the watch is not protected even from sweat. The manual gives the following levels:

  • No BAR marking: hand washing and rain only.
  • 5BAR: hand washing, rain, working with water, swimming.
  • 10BAR: additionally windsurfing and skin diving.
  • 20BAR: the same as 10BAR.

The watch is not for scuba diving. Do not wear it in a bath, sauna or heated pool. Avoid soaps and detergents. After seawater, rinse it with clean water. The gaskets are replaced every two or three years. If the glass fogs up and does not clear, stop using the watch and take it to a service center.

Battery and maintenance

Replacing the battery requires special tools. Casio recommends that it be done by the retailer or an authorized service center. During replacement, the technician also checks the water resistance.

Keep the watch away from strong magnets: speakers, magnetic necklaces, phones. They can slow down, speed up or stop the hands. A strong static charge can show the wrong time or blank the display for a moment. Do not leave the watch on a car dashboard or next to a heater. Above +60 °C the display can be damaged. Below 0 °C and above +40 °C it is harder to read.

Solvents, gasoline, adhesives, cosmetics and perfumes damage the case and the band. The band should not be too tight. A finger should fit between it and the wrist. If you notice cracks, discoloration or loosening, stop wearing the watch. Before long storage, wipe off sweat and moisture and keep it in a dry place. A wet watch left next to other items can transfer color to them.
